Diana J. Bigelow, Ph.D.

Experience

Diana Bigelow
Diana Bigelow

Dr. Bigelow is well known for her studies of calcium regulation in heart and skeletal muscle and how it is affected by aging and oxidative stress. Her group also focuses on elucidation of fundamental molecular mechanisms of regulation of one calcium regulatory protein, the SR Ca-ATPase, by phospholamban.

Before coming to the Tri-Cities, Dr. Bigelow was an associate professor at the University of Kansas (Lawrence) where she directed research and taught since 1990. She also served as director of the Biochemistry and Biophysics group for the university's Department of Molecular Biosciences. At PNNL, Dr. Bigelow is also the director of the new Systems Biology Fellows (SBF) program, which provides a unique postdoctoral training opportunity in multipdisciplinary research.
