Researchers at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) use flow chamber biofilm reactors for controlled growth of biofilms. The flow chamber is designed to allow direct observation and quantification of biofilm development using microscopy and image analysis. These flow cells offer capabilities for a full range of flow conditions from laminar to turbulent flow. The flow cells are compatible with confocal, UV- epi, reflected, and transmitted light microscopy.
